Take a trip from Ross Castle’s main pier to Innisfallen island. Explore the Abbey ruins on the island which date back to the 6th century. Innisfallen island was occupied for over 950 years. Brian Boru our most famous Irish High King was educated here and the world famous Annals of Innisfallen were written on the island . Entries span between the years 433 and 1450. The annals are currently housed in the Bodleian Library in Oxford University, England.
