The boatman is a very well informed man in terms of local history, geography and the ecosystem. I have MS, so a lot of solo travelling as I take things at my own pace, rented the boat to myself, and this is one of the wisest decisions I’ve ever made re travel. The boat is superbly built and maintained, tarpaulins etc are provided against the inevitable into-wind splash on certain sectors, but there is nothing like an open boat to enjoy the nooks and crannies of the lakes which a larger boat simply cannot access. I’m a tour leader and I wanted to arrange something special for my group. Killarney boat tours did the job. We do all over Ireland tours and this was many of their highlight. They loved the traditional boat, Fergus our skipper gave us some great information, but his very cute dog Oscar got most of the attention.
